Gratitude Journal: Freedom of Expression

Got Gratitude? Share it here!
Welcome to our community gratitude journal, open to all who?d like to express their thanks or share a happy thought.

I?m grateful that my son, age 9, likes being outdoors, and knows how to express himself. [This pic] is a self-portrait he took on a backpacking trip last summer.

I am grateful that I am still able to laugh after a tough day, having the ability to love after being hurt, and never doubt kindness and compassion is not a choice!

I am so thankful for the way my kitty cat meows through her purr.  It is such a beautiful sound of loving contentment.

I?m grateful I live in a culture that allows me free thought and expression, unlike so many others on our planet.

I am grateful that our sons and daughters make every effort to travel from afar several times a year so their children can be a part of our lives.

I am thankful for this delicious coffee.

I am thankful for my sister Norma who is unselfish, generous, loving, and loyal. She treats others the way we would all like to be treated.

I?m grateful that my difficult second quarter of grad school is almost over and that I?m passing and my family is mostly doing fine with these new demands.

Sometimes I hear Christine Carter?s voice in my head?urging me to be friendlier or braver (like from posts like this one: http://greatergood.berkeley.edu/raising_happiness/post/happiness_is_being_socially_connected). Today it prodded me to make friends with another family traveling on the same cross-country flight. I guess I have to say that I?m grateful that this site has made me want to be braver and friendlier.

Every week we post a photo submitted by one of our readers along with all the happy and thankful comments gathered throughout the week.

We need photos! Send them to janinek@berkeley.edu.

To contribute, email your gratitude (a sentence or two would be great) or your favorite photo to Janine at janinek@berkeley.edu.

You can also contribute gratitudes by commenting at the bottom of this post. Please include: your name if you?d like us to use it and any other info you?d like us to list, e.g., if the ?gratitude? is from one of your children, it would be great to know his or her age.
